Online tuition for Class 1, 2, 3. What actually works at this age?
One thing, mostly: the child has to talk. A Class 2 child learns by saying a wrong thing out loud and being asked about it. In a batch of fifteen on a video call, your child speaks for about a minute an hour and spends the rest of it watching. That is the problem, and it is not the tutor's fault. Why a batch fails a seven-year-old in particular
Two reasons, and neither is about the teacher.
First, attention. A seven-year-old's attention is not a resource you can ration across a fifty-minute call. It goes where something is happening, and on a batch call nothing is happening to them for most of it.
Second, talking. At this age the talking is not a check at the end of the teaching. It is the teaching. A child who says "twenty-four is two tens and four" out loud has understood something a child who nodded at a slide has not. A batch cannot give fifteen children that, forty times a week.
What one-to-one by voice changes
Your child taps once and talks. Caldra answers and asks back. When your child says something half-right, it picks up the half that was right and pushes on the rest. It remembers what happened yesterday, so Monday is not a cold start after a Sunday.
On some lessons it draws on the screen while it explains. Not on all of them yet. A good many lessons are still voice alone.
What it teaches today, for Class 2
ICSE Class 2. Mathematics and English have signed lessons; the chapter list, with a mark against each one, is on the ICSE Class 2 page and it is built from the lessons that exist rather than from an intention. Environmental Studies has no lesson yet. Class 1 and Class 3 have none yet either; the chapters are mapped, the lessons are not written.
