Caldra Learning was built by a parent in Kakinada, in Andhra Pradesh, for his own child. That child is Caldra's first learner and its hardest reader. He is seven, he is in ICSE Class 2, and he is not named on this site and never will be. That is his to give away one day, not ours.
Why voice
Because a seven-year-old thinks faster than he writes, and everything interesting he had to say was being lost between the thought and the pencil. Ask him out loud and it all arrives. So Caldra listens and talks, and asks nothing to be typed.
It also settled what Caldra could not be. A voice cannot hold a child with a feed. It has to be worth listening to or the child walks off, which is a good rule for a children's product to be built under.
Why ICSE
Because his son is in ICSE Class 2, and we would rather one class be genuinely taught than twelve be listed. The Class 2 chapter structure in Caldra is the Council's own printed text, read page by page, chapter names and all. Other boards are an ordering over the same concepts, and they come later.
Why the child does the thinking
An app that answers instantly teaches a child to ask instantly. So on a practice turn Caldra offers to work it out together before it hands over the answer. Once. Ask twice and you get the answer in full. A child who is curious is never made to earn it.
The Caldra Circle
Caldra opens with fifty families, ten in each age band, chosen by request rather than by queue. They pay a fifth less for as long as they stay, they get everything first, and in return they tell us what breaks. The discount is for that, never for your child's data. Ask for a place.
