Is an AI tutor safe and any good for a 6 to 8 year old?
Safe is a fair question to lead with. Here is the short answer. Caldra talks, and your child talks back. There is no feed, no video to stare at, no advertising and no tracker anywhere in it. You can read every conversation your child has, word for word, on the day it happens and for fourteen days after. The raw audio is thrown away as soon as it has been turned into text. Whether it is any good is a slower answer, and it depends on what you want it to teach: today it teaches ICSE Class 2 maths and Class 2 reading, and almost nothing else.
What voice-first means for a child who cannot type
A seven-year-old can think far faster than they can type. Ask them to write their reasoning down and most of it is gone before the second word is finished. So Caldra does not ask them to write. Your child taps once and talks. Caldra listens, answers in a voice, and asks something back.
That one design choice is why it works at this age, and it is also why it only works in English. Caldra speaks and listens in English only. If your child is not comfortable being asked a question in English yet, wait.
The child does the thinking. That is the whole product.
When your child is practising something, Caldra does not hand over the answer on the first ask. It gives a scaffold and makes one offer, usually something like shall we work it out together, or did you want the answer? Ask a second time and it gives the answer, in full, and then offers to show why. Curiosity is never held back to make a child work harder. There is no point in a tutor that sulks.

All of it. Every conversation, every topic, in your parent view. Nothing about your child is hidden from you, and you can export the whole record or delete it entirely whenever you want. That is your right under India's DPDP Act and we built to it rather than around it.
What Caldra refuses to do
No scores and no ranking. No streaks, no badges, nothing engineered to pull a child back to a screen at nine at night. No advertising, ever, and no advertising profile of your child. No sale of your family's data to anybody, at any price.
The honest boundary
Caldra teaches ICSE Class 2 maths and Class 2 reading today. Not the whole of either. The chapter-by-chapter position is on the Class 2 page and it is generated from the lessons that actually exist, not from a plan.
Environmental Studies has no lesson yet. Other classes have none yet. Caldra is not affiliated with any board, and it issues no certificate. It is a tutor, not a school.
